Brassica oleracea var. acephala
Kale is a hardy biennial brassica grown for its ruffled, curled, or flat leaves. Seeds are sown from April to June, seedlings move to their final beds by midsummer, and the plants stand through winter to yield cut-and-come-again harvests until bolting the following spring.
