Capsicum annuum
Chilli is a tender perennial grown in the UK as an annual subshrub for its pungent or sweet pods. Seeds require indoor heat from February to April, moving into an unheated greenhouse or sheltered outdoor bed in late May, where plants occupy the ground until killed by the first autumn frosts.
