Ribes rubrum
The redcurrant is a hardy deciduous shrub grown for the pendant trusses of glossy, translucent berries that ripen in midsummer. Bushes go into the ground as bare roots between late autumn and early spring, occupying the plot permanently for ten to fifteen years and cropping every summer.
