Brassica rapa subsp. pekinensis
Chinese cabbage is a biennial brassica grown as a fast-maturing annual for its upright, tightly packed cylindrical or barrel-shaped heads. Seed goes in from June to August to avoid premature bolting, occupies the ground for two to three months into autumn, and does not return after harvest.
