Symphytum officinale
Comfrey is a deep-rooted herbaceous perennial grown to harvest leafy foliage for liquid fertiliser, surface mulch, and compost activation rather than food. Root cuttings or crowns go in between March and May or in September, remaining in a permanent bed for twenty or more years and dying down each winter before re-emerging in spring.
