Sinapis alba
A fast-growing annual brassica grown primarily to protect bare soil and provide bulky organic matter, though young shoots are gathered as salad greens. Broadcast between March and September, it occupies the bed for six to ten weeks before being cut down or dug in prior to flowering, and does not return.
